With six years of military experience under her belt, Sabina has an inspiring story from service to civvy street.
She started as a Royal Airforce Musician, gaining a degree in music performance, before side-stepping into a Specialised Military Intelligence role. She signed off from the military as a Corporal and went on to work for Amazon. She’s now in the International Missions Operations team at Anduril, a defence technology company.
Why did she leave the military?
She left because she had a hankering to explore the civilian, corporate world, and with that, the civilian lifestyle.
Specifically, she was curious about a career in tech, at a London-based company.
What happened next?
Enrolling on a military hiring program by Amazon, Sabina was lucky to receive some great transition training, learning about stakeholder management and understanding how to pivot her skills to focus on revenue; not a focus in the military.
After her role as Europe Programme Manager at Amazon, Sabina moved into her current role at Anduril. Not originally looking for a career in defence, it was the cutting-edge, world-class technology that piqued her interest. Andril are disruptive, and they’re changing the game.
How did her military experience serve her?
👉 Leadership: Being able to organise large and small teams
👉 Work under pressure: Being able to work under tight deadlines without feeling overwhelmed. Sabina told us that she’s able to relate tricky situations back to a time in the military when the stakes were far higher, which enables her to stay calm and deliver on the task.
👉 Mindset: Knowing the task will get done, and taking on challenges with confidence. Situation, problem, task. This is very useful for the corporate world.
👉 Communication: Being able to communicate with people from all backgrounds, experiences and cultures means she can mesh and work with people easily in a corporate situation.
