An ex-Officer, commanding the Red Devils Army Parachute Display Team, and previously at regimental and operational duty with 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, Stephen’s got a solid military career behind him. It’s no wonder then, that he’s ended up in a Senior Account Manager role.
We spoke to Stephen about his experience signing off, and why he thinks that every job in the future is going to be an eco-job.
Interview below 👇
What’s your new company all about?
Simply put, they’re an eco-tech (sometimes called climate-tech or green-tech) company that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. UNDO’s mission is to permanently remove a billion tonnes of carbon dioxide and make carbon removal accessible to all. The company's vision is to keep the planet fit for future generations and to help get us to that 2050 goal of net zero emissions.
And then your role, what do you do?
I am a Senior Account Manager within the Enterprise Sales Team.
I work with Enterprise clients to build in carbon removals to their net zero strategy. I predominantly work with Sustainability Directors and Managers but also lead the work on philanthropic funds, government grants and large RFPs (requests for proposals).
How does your military experience give you an edge?
Problem-solving and a bias for action, in other words, getting stuff done.
My time in the Parachute Regiment was about spotting opportunities and overcoming problems. This mindset has meant that I’ve quickly gotten up to speed with my new company. It also means I’ve been able to identify areas of improvement that have direct business impact.
